Embracing Growth: Let your story move you

You've grown; you are not the same you from five, ten, or even a year ago. Life is different now; some relationships have shifted or ended, you lost loved ones, you grieved, you have been through dark times, you remembered childhood wounds, you are learning how those wounds have impacted you, and you are constantly learning to be good to yourself and others.

Body storytelling

Your life has been a series of experiences, each shaping who you are now. The person you are today is the culmination of your past experiences, growth, and evolution. Your body holds it all. Within you are the wisdom, lessons, and teachings you have learned. Body storytelling is the creative process of expressing yourself and your stories. It is the act of honoring your emotional experiences through movement & expression. Whether it is dancing, singing, drawing, writing, baking, cooking, or other forms of creative expression, body storytelling is the act of expressing the experiences of the body.

Healing through Movement

When I was young, I was in a Dominican folk dance group. I remember feeling so empowered, moving to the rhythm of the music, holding my dress with respect, and dancing with my group. I remember feeling so full of life, even though I was out of breath.

And then, one day, I stopped dancing; as I reflect, I now realize it was because I experienced trauma toward my body and felt too afraid to dance, to connect with myself- to feel whole with myself.

My journey as a somatic therapist has taught me so much about how to listen to the body and how to tune into the experiences of the body.

My journey has taught me how to rhythm and move with myself. I have learned to drop into my body and be with myself as I experience life.

Every time I dance, I connect back to her and to myself, and I am restored—welcomed back into the home again.

Healing through movement is an 8-week somatic journey that will guide you in connecting to the body. In circle we will gather and become the body. We will move each other and honor our stories. We will embrace the body, the wisdom shared by the body and return home to our hearts.
