Becoming the Body & Embracing Your Wisdom
Full Moon Reflections Awaken Earth Wisdom
The moon is a beautiful example of wholeness
The moon is always whole, even when she is not fully seen.
She takes time to be with herself.
She shares her light in her own time, when it honors her.
She honors her cycle, each phase a lesson, a rest point, and enough.
She teaches us patience, presence, and process.
She reminds us to embrace our cycles.
She teaches us how to honor ourselves in every phase, and that every phase is sacred.
The moon is full tonight- her light illuminates what has been hidden in the dark.
Full moons invite us to reflect: What is stirring up within me? What feels big within me? How can I support my body in releasing old emotions?
Becoming the Body
As maidens (little girls, children), we are often taught by society, culture, and the family system (especially within the mother-daughter relationship) to seek validation outside of ourselves.
We learn to look to others-teachers, mothers, friends, community, media-to confirm our identity. This way of being once ensured safety and belonging.
But as we grow into ourselves and become our own caretakers, this pattern no longer serves us. It may begin to harm us.
The psychological and spiritual rite of passage from maiden to womxn is the shedding of the need for external validation and guidance.
Instead, we are called to look within.
This release is a sacred and necessary rite into womxnhood- it is a return to the body and its wisdom.
An initiation into the depths of our intuition.
An awakening of our inner knowing.
Embracing the Body's Wisdom
This initiation deeply affects the body. Below are some somatic practices to support you through this transformation:
Child’s Pose: This pose is a gentle and powerful way of connecting with the body, giving space for grief & practicing picking yourself back up again. I invite you to give yourself time to settle into the pose, breathe, and drop into the body. Whenever you feel ready, pick yourself up and begin again. Set an intention: “I am beginning again with love,” “I am beginning again with compassion”… whatever you need, begin again with yourself. This is a practice & a process.
Tapping on the heart space: Many of us have been taught to hold on to, carry, and/or store. In the name of letting go and honoring the body, I invite you to engage in a heart-centering practice. Place one hand over your heart and the other on your belly. Being with the heart, tap- then belly- rhythm with yourself. Connect to the heart, and practice being with the body. That is enough.
Body Wisdom
It’s not about doing more- it’s about being with yourself more. Many of us have learned to live outside of ourselves and have spent so much time trying to find ourselves- you are here. Be here with yourself- it is enough to be with the body- it’s always been enough.
With Love,
