Grounded Wisdom: Preparing the body for Spring
Hi Community,
I am sending you all love and warmth. This week, I felt called to share some reflections and practices to support you as we prepare the body for spring.
Seasonal Change & Mental Health
The earth is changing, and as the earth changes, so do we.
In winter, we are in the dark; spring returns the light.
This changes how we experience life; our lens expands during this time of year due to the physical changes in our environment. Opening the window for the first time in months brings fresh air and life into the home, inviting creativity and new beginnings.
New beginnings bring us back to the body- we are reunited with ourselves after months of being in the dark. Spring gives us insight and vision into the next chapter of our lives. In spring, we grow up and become.
The medicine is in practicing presence- being with ourselves and not outside ourselves.
We do this by grounding ourselves- & rooting ourselves in our bodies… every day.
We make it part of our day to grow, water, and love ourselves.
We make it easy for ourselves and soft for ourselves.
We choose the ways we show up and honor ourselves.
Practices & Rituals:
“In the name of self-love” practices
What are you already doing for yourself? How can you slow down, bring intention into your practice, and fully receive your love and care?
Make your morning coffee in the name of self-love.
Put lotion on your body in the name of self-love.
Write about your day in the name of self-love.
Past self gratitude gathering & journaling
Collect and gather pictures of yourself-create an album on your phone or print them out, whatever feels good for you. Reflect on those versions of yourself and thank them in a letter.
“To the version of me that used to…”
“To the girl/woman/person who…”
“To all the versions of me that brought me here…”
Read the letter every day for the next three days. Give yourself time to receive. The body is vast; repetition is medicine.
Self-Reflection & Journal Prompts for Meeting Yourself Again:
“To the woman/person I am becoming…”
“A letter to my ancestors…let me tell you about my healing journey…”
“A list of things I want to tell myself.”
“All along, I have been worthy. This is how I returned back to myself…”
Food & Nutrition: Your body needs fuel
Change requires energy, the body is using a lot of energy during this time.
Eating more earthy foods support us by grounding us in our bodies, and in turn, we feel more connected to ourselves.
Connection is the medicine for trauma and fear.
What foods connect you to yourself?
Honor your body by listening to the cues of hunger and thirst.
Reframing judgment with compassion
Some gentle reframes for when inner judgment feels loud:
“I should have it all figured out by now.” →“I am unlearning, healing, and growing at my own pace. My timeline is my own. It is safe to take my time. The destination is this journey.”
“I can’t rest; there’s too much to do.” → “Rest is necessary. When I rest, I receive my body’s wisdom. Rest is my right. I am worthy of care.”
“I’m falling behind compared to others.” → “I am on my own sacred path. My journey is unfolding in its perfect timing.”
“I should just be grateful.” → “I can be grateful and still desire more for myself. Both can be true. I am always growing; it makes sense for my needs to evolve.”
“I have to carry this alone.” → “I am allowed to lean on others. I do not have to be the strong one all the time.”
Honor your expression -
You are not meant to be perfect; perfection does not exist.
You are meant to feel whole, to feel like yourself, to be in your full expression.
Being in your full expression means you will never be the same version of yourself again; you are constantly changing and growing.
Let go of the need to stay the same.
The moon teaches us that we are whole, no matter what it looks like on the outside.
Expression is messy, creative, big, exciting, soft, and fluid; your expression is unique.
Your expression is your medicine.
Your expression will release you from the stories of the past and bring you to the now, to the present.
